Before this period, the Cepea Price Index for Industrial Ethanol was informed including taxes. For industrial hydrous and anhydrous, the tax rate was equivalent to 9.25 percent (due to PIS/Cofins, a Brazilian federal tax applied to all economic transactions). Introducing the weekly Cepea/Esalq Index The Cepea/Esalq Indexes for anhydrous ethanol, hydrous ethanol and industrial ethanol, in São Paulo state, are figured out by a team of researchers of Cepea/Esalq/USP. They are a result of a systematic prices collection carried out daily. The Indexes have been published every week since June 2000, respecting an agreement between Cepea, the São Paulo Sugarcane Agroindustry Union (Unica) and the Sugarcane Growers Organization of the Center/Southerner Region of Brazil (Orplana).
